Two arrested with fake currency notes

NEW DELHI: Two men have been arrested by the crime branch of Delhi Police for allegedly smuggling counterfeit currency from Nepal and circulating

it in the country, said the police.

The police said they seized fake notes with a face value of Rs 1.10 lakh from them. The accused Mansoor Alam (42) and Abdul Haq (37) were arrested on Wednesday from Jama Masjid area.

The police said Alam, a native of Darbhanga in Bihar, was a graduate. “He has an organized network of smugglers in Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Raxol districts in Bihar. He used to procure the consignment of fake currency from one Rajesh of Nepal and circulated the notes here,” said Additional CP (crime and railways) Neeraj Thakur.

Haq, who owns a shop in Meena Bazar, provided local support to Alam.
