Maoists to shut schools in east
BIRATNAGAR, Nov 22: All Nepal Teachers´ Organization (ANTO) affiliated with the UCPN (Maoist) has announced to shut down all schools in eastern region on Monday.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, ANTO called closure of all private and community schools to protest the attack on their sub-coordinator of eastern region bureau Laxmi Onchhongbo on Friday. UML-affiliated cadre Rupesh Limbu had allegedly shot fire on Onchhongbo in Fungling, Taplejung.
Nara Bahadur Dulal, in-charge of eastern bureau of ANTO, said closure of schools was called to exert pressure on the government to take action against the alleged attacker. Police have already arrested him.
